The process

Three steps. Zero friction.

No drop-off, no waiting room, no fixed route days. You choose the windows; we build the run around you.

Step one

Pick your windows

Book online or text us. Choose two or three pickup windows that suit you, Monday through Saturday. Or mark yourself flexible and we'll waive the small-order fee entirely.

Step two

We collect & sharpen

Door handoff or porch pickup, your call. Every blade is ground on fine belts at a controlled angle, finished on water stones and a strop, and edge-tested before it leaves the bench.

Step three

Back in 24 hours

Returned same or next day with edge guards on. We text a before-and-after of your own knife, and a reminder when it's due again in about 90 days, if you want one.

The referral program

Sharp friends pay.

Almost all of our best clients arrive the same way: someone they trust handed them a freshly sharpened knife. So we reward it, every single time.

Your friend gets
First 2 knives free

Double the standard welcome, because they came on your word. No commitment, full pickup & return service.

You get
$10 credit, every time

Applied when your friend completes their first paid pickup. Credits stack. Three friends is a free Whole Block on us.

How it works: they just mention your name when booking. That's the whole system. We track it, honor it, and text you when a credit lands.

Run a kitchen? Refer another restaurant that starts a standing plan and your next pickup visit is free.

The difference, drawn to scale

What "sharp" actually looks like.

Under magnification, a dull edge is a saw of rolled, chipped steel. Proper sharpening rebuilds it into a single clean line. Drag the handle.

The founding client wall starts now.

We're a young company that would rather earn stars than print fake ones. Book a free first knife and judge the edge yourself. If it's the sharpest your knife has ever been, a Google review makes you a founding client. Your words will live right here.

The person behind the edge

Founded on a whetstone in Marin, 2022.

Next Day Knives started with a teenager, a set of water stones, and a neighborhood's worth of dull kitchen drawers. Four years and a few thousand edges later, the operation runs on the same idea it started with: a knife should be sharpened properly, and getting that done shouldn't cost you a trip.

I'm Hayden, a student-athlete at Cal and the founder and sharpener behind every blade we return. You hand your knives off; they come back sharp, tested, and guarded. That's the whole product.

The edge guarantee

Every knife is edge-tested before it comes back. If an edge isn't right, too toothy, uneven, or not holding, tell us within a week and we re-sharpen it free. No forms, no debate.

Questions, answered

Before you hand over your knives.

Is there really no minimum order?

None. One knife is a fine order. And if you're new, that first one is free. Orders under $20 add a $5 pickup fee, which disappears at $20+ or whenever you mark your schedule flexible.

How do pickup windows work if there are no set route days?

You pick two or three windows that work for you, Monday–Saturday. We confirm one by text the evening before, building each day's run around real bookings instead of a fixed map. Flexible clients get folded into the nearest run, usually within a day or two.

Can you come when I'm not home?

Yes. Porch pickup is our most popular option. Leave the knives in a bag or box where you tell us; we text when we're 20 minutes out, and again at return. Blades come back with edge guards on.

How does the Whole Block bundle work?

Up to 8 knives for a flat $49, including up to two serrated blades. It's the "everything in the drawer" service. Most blocks run $56–64 à la carte, and pickup is free.

How does the referral credit work?

Your friend mentions your name when booking. They get their first two knives free; you get a $10 credit the moment their first paid pickup completes. Credits stack with no limit and never expire.

What if I have an expensive Japanese knife?

Bring it. Single-bevel and high-hardness Japanese steel gets extra care: a light touch at the correct angle, then a full water-stone and strop finish. Fine blades never see more grinding than the edge needs.

Can you fix chips or a broken tip?

Usually. Minor chips and rolled edges are part of normal sharpening. Bigger repairs are flat-priced: chip repair +$5, tip rebuild +$8, rust restoration +$10. We confirm before touching the blade.

How often should knives be sharpened?

A home kitchen: about every 90 days. A working line: every 1–2 weeks. That rhythm is exactly what the Home Plan and standing plans are built around, and why we offer the optional reminder text.

What happens if I'm not happy with an edge?

Tell us within a week and we re-sharpen it free. Every knife is tested before return, so this is rare. But the guarantee exists so you never have to wonder.
